If I Can Make It There…
The news of my departure from Podshow broke this morning. It is true, I am moving to New York City in January to work for Cnet TV. TechCrunch reported on the story late Sunday night before Adam Curry could make his own announcement. Nevertheless, I am relieved not to have to keep this secret anymore. I’m lousy at keeping secrets. I’ll never work for the CIA. I became a journalist to tell the world what I know, not keep it to myself. Journalists do not like to keep secrets. Words to live by.
I am really excited about this move but I want to make it clear that my departure from Podshow is not an indication of the state of things at Podshow. This is just the next logical step for me and I owe a lot of it to Podshow. I was not a proven success story when Adam “discovered” me on an episode of Cranky Geeks. He took a huge chance and made a huge investment in me and I will never forget that. Adam took me to Spruce in Lauren Heights last week and he offered to continue to be a mentor to me and I am surely going to take him up on that offer. Podshow will continue to do big things, with or without TeXtra.
I am not nervous about leaving San Francisco. My heart is here and always will be. It is my home. I am not nervous about the job. I am not nervous about high rents in New York or being away from my friends. I am mostly nervous about freezing my Californian butt off!
