Technology Failed Me This Thanksgiving
I truly believe that you can have a bad technology day in much the same way that you can have a bad hair day. This weekend was a series of bad technology days. My Sony Cybershot was in the shop because I dropped it on Halloween so I had to use my sister’s camera to photograph my Thanksgiving dinner, which I put many a blood, sweat, and tear into. That camera did not work either. It has a problem transferring photos off of the device so I have to get a memory card reader to get the photos off. My backup was my Nokia N95, which has a pretty great camera, only it kept rebooting itself involuntarily. I give up.
I had wanted to post photos to my Flickr album and recipes to Open Source Food but it looks like neither are possible until I find a flash card reader.
Also, my turkey didn’t cook all the way through in the fryer. The outside started to burn before the inside was cooked. I didn’t even want to deep fry it. I wanted to brine it like I did last year. I think this year’s 26-pound turkey was too big for the hot oil. The outer breasts were still good. Next year we’ll get two small turkeys, fry one, and brine the other. This is the last time I take orders from my turkey bitches, AKA my family. I’m in charge of this operation! I should know better to listen to the laborers!
